Heal Those Old Grudges: A Rhyme with Message

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

People go forward in life. Bitterness and grudges and resentments only poison it.

-- David Furnish

There are moments, and they could be many

of mind's reruns that should have been gone

some old memories more painful than any

like nothing is healed and keeps going on.

Then before we know it life stops in its tracks

with the gloom of that memory spoiling fun

as if it's piling up all our misses and lacks

we obsess over what was said and done.

As if every passing face is looking down on us

recognizing that grudge tormenting our heart

despite all clumsy attempts to hide the fuss

it keeps poisoning life with its every part.

Could we just let it go once and for all

with fantoms of past, their dark shadows

allowing ourselves to take that happy stroll

with daisies and butterflies on sunny meadows.

So don't touch those wounds, allow them to heal

life doesn't insist on a taste of some desserts

but so much more joy is still there to feel

so put a balsam on all those hurts.
