Looking through and Beyond Where You Are

Introduction

Windows not only take us out of our homes to wander the garden, the paddock, or the hilly landscape beyond, but to have us stretch our mental legs so that we can contemplate or rethink our beholden attitudes or perspectives.

Here I give you three different moments of time. A mix between real events and dreamt of events. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did bringing them to you.

Melting Moments

Here the present merges the awareness between two lovers

Panting and laughing

we collapse to the ground

cushioned by the tall grass

blanketing the river bank

The feel of his nearby breath

makes me look up

to meet his eyes

cheekily smiling back at me

My body cradles him tight

our hearts falling

into sync

beating as one

My head is feeling

light and giddy

as I breathe in

the intoxicating perfume

of wild roses

Source

The sun collides with the moon

as he leans in

to kiss the corners

of my lips

I thirstily drink him in

tasting sweet maple syrup

together with a dewdrop

of morning coffee

Wordlessness surrounds our lips

pushing our eyes open

to capture tendrils of tenderness

as our joy lifts us higher

If we ever do part

I will see us

in the first bright star

of the night

I will wish, us

when the Lark

heralds in the morning

with her song

Source

When we come back together

I will wish, us

in the morning fog

that mystifies the day’s birth

I will wish, us

in the reflection

of a feather that freefalls

to my feet

Like the ebb and flow

of the ocean

so, our love will

rise and fall to shine

Blue Stillness

Looking out to the nights sky, it feels time has stood still just for you.

Folder amongst

the velvet indigo drapes

of the night sky

lies peace and harmony

A white sail boat

mimics the crescent moon

on the blue lagoon

of balance stillness

Heaven meets earth

as one’s eyes drift

from the sandy shore

up to the tiara of stars

Behind lies a soundless hill

sneezed with Red Gum trees

that form a bubble pop fortress

guarding all creatures big and small

Window-Today and Tomorrow

Each window transports us through yesterday, today and tomorrow

The Ilse of White

frames the window

capturing a wave

of terracotta tiles rooftops

Growling grey blue storm clouds

are trumpeted in

The wind flattening

the blades of grass

It seems Thor

is clashing his symbols

of the sky

to warn us to stay indoors

The pine trees

lining the ruddy driveway

flutters its needles

like a well-played xylophone

Nearby doves are mewling

Wings fluttering

to keep the doves

warm and protected

We stood and waited

for heaven’s tears

to enable us

to grow our valour

Hey Charmaine.Your first poem made me feel in love haha. Good description of the relationship. I like how you compare time with The Blue Stillness and the picture goes well with the poem. As for the WIndow poem, it appears that the weather is making living things prepare themselves. It's cute how the poem paints a lively picture and Thor! :)

Very beautiful poems. Each poem tells a nice story of some unique moods with their scenery.
