Do Not Judge Me

Nithya Venkat enjoys writing about nature and different aspects of life in the form of poetic verses.

Do Not Judge Me

Do Not Judge Me

Do not be hasty to judge; get to know the person before you do.

Do not judge me

Do you know what I do

Do you know about my life?

Or what I have been through

Do not judge me

Do you think you can

You are a stranger

From where I stand

Do not judge me

It is not your place.

To pass a judgment

With just a look at my face

Do not judge me

You do not know

The distances, I've walked.

Things I have encountered

The miles I have chalked

Do not judge me

Look around from where you are

People are judging you

Just like you are

Do not judge me

Do you not understand

You are a stranger

You cannot take a stand

Do not judge me

Yes Devika, people need to look at themselves before judging others. Thank you for your visit and comments.

Vellur the important message from this hub is what people need to see about themselves before looking upon others.

Thank you for your visit and comments Chitrangada. Sometimes we tend to judge without knowing a person.

Thank you Lora, as you say none of us are in a position to judge.

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 26, 2020:

Yes, if only we take time to understand as humans we will not judge harshly.

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 26, 2020:

Thank you FlourishAnyway you are so right.

FlourishAnyway from USA on November 24, 2020:

It's easy to judge others, much harder to seek to understand what you do not know. Great message.

Rodric Anthony from Surprise, Arizona on November 22, 2020:

Vellar, if only we as humans would heed that simple truth to not judge rashly or at all.

Lora Hollings on November 22, 2020:

A poem that says it all so well about not judging others. It is a profound poem whose message is as true today as it was yesterday! Instead of judging others, let’s try to understand and give them a chance. None of us are in a position to be able to judge another. Thanks for sharing.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on November 22, 2020:

Thank you for sharing the important advice in your poem, Vellur. We never know what a person has been through in their life when we see them. We should remember this.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on November 22, 2020:

Thank you for the reminder. I catch myself judging complete strangers, and isn't that absolute silliness? I really need to concentrate on myself and how I portray myself to others. That would accomplish much more, I think.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on November 22, 2020:

Wonderful poem, with an important and direct message. I liked the clarity of your poem.

We have often seen people being judgemental about others, without knowing the person, or their situations.

Well composed and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing.

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 22, 2020:

Brenda many tend to judge with just one look without knowing the whole story. Thank you for your visit and comments.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on November 21, 2020:

This is a good reminder. We often instantly judge others with just one look without ever considering what they have been through in life.

Thank you John, yes too many people are quick to judge.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on November 21, 2020:

This poem has such a clear and direct message for everyone. Too many are quick to judge without knowing anything about a person’s life or what they have been through. As you say, you have no right to judge unless you have walked a mile in my shoes. Thank you for writing this wonderful poem, Nithya.

manatita44 from london on November 21, 2020:

A very powerful poem! I love it! That was rather like Sri Ramakrishna's Consort password. Christ used it too. So important! An engaging and impactful piece!

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 21, 2020:

Thank you for your visit and comments Peggy. You are so right we should not judge without knowing what others have experienced.

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 21, 2020:

Thank you Ann. I too don’t understand why people are so quick to judge.

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 21, 2020:

Nithya Venkat (author) from Dubai on November 21, 2020:

Thank your visit and for sharing your thoughts Eric.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on November 21, 2020:

Your message is such an important one. We rarely know what others have experienced on their path of life. Understanding that, we should never be too quick to judge.

Ann Carr from SW England on November 21, 2020:

Great poem, Nithya! Such a good message. We never know why people do or say things, so judging is not fair without full knowledge of circumstances and even then we can't know all the emotions attached.

I don't like being judged so I try not to judge others.

Ann

Liz Westwood from UK on November 21, 2020:

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on November 21, 2020:

This is a wonderful statement in prose. Important, so important. Silly me. I like being judged. So seldom is it right.
