Disastrous Honesty: a Poem
Believe it or not but the world would fall apart
if everyone started saying what they really think
so let's reexamine those motivations of our heart
and how its total honesty could destroy us in a blink.
Only toddlers will blurt whatever is on their mind
spontaneous and naïve, the way they are cute
but our interactions are much more refined
even though at times tactless and brute.
There is hardly a relation that we know
not sustained by a mix of honesty and lie
but it's all so well played-in all over our show
that we don't even notice it, mostly don't even try.
It is based on our positive manipulation
each love and friendship, and in between
and there is almost no conceivable situation
where being honest is all that we really mean.
Life is just a mix of imagination and facts
which makes it partially true, partially a lie
and that's on what we are basing our acts
from childhood to the moment that we die.
Even "common sense" is but an unwritten rule
how to handle coexistence with selective care
molding human truth by our adulthood school
and leaving total honesty at our toddler years.
