Different Spaces for Different Ages: Eight Years Old

My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started sharing poetry articles back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.

Eight Years Old

There once was an eight year old girl who

always danced for the moon as she grew

a friendly observer

along with her father

who would smile as he watched her dance too.

The importance of sharing her love

she gave her brother her baseball glove

just to bring him to smile

while he played ball awhile

as she winked to the clouds up above.

Through her play she found time to snuggle

even though she can’t stop her wiggle

her Mom holds her tighter

the best wiggle fighter

with Mom it’s never a struggle.

Near her bed she hides all her candy

she keeps chocolate always handy

for when she feels the blues

or receiving good news

eating sweets makes her feel just dandy.

So much love to give to my daughter

whether running or playing soccer

when laughing with her friends

when the fun never ends

she will always know we love her.
