Destiny Never Sleeps

I don’t ask God too many questions
I don’t want to push my luck
He doesn’t have to pay attention to me
Especially if I’m only trying to make a buck

Walking the hallways of your youth
You took wild leaps from the second floor
I wish I was there to catch you in my arms
In my mind a soft organ sang, “Tell me more”

Destiny never sleeps
Not as long as you stay alive
I never knew what it might be
Then I felt something inside
Because you finally told me so

I know what Jesus said
He takes care of the birds in the air
They don’t have to worry about their life
It seems though that I need to care

Your father gave me tequila
Your mother her silent hand
It seemed everything I wanted
Had already been planned

Destiny never sleeps
Not as long as you stay alive
I never knew what it might be
Until I felt something inside
Because you finally made it so

Destiny never sleeps my love
Mi querida you know it now
I didn’t have to kiss you awake
Your heart is telling you how
To live the life we've come to know
