Lady Justice

Lady Justice

Of the people, by the people, for the people,
When the subjects become the masters.
A wonderful philosophy,
And yet, the root of countless disasters.

Of the people, by the people, for the people,
But do the people really have a say?
Then why do the vilest of men,
Often get their way?

Of the people, by the people, for the people,
All are equal under the eyes of the law.
So why are the powerful bestowed forgiveness,
While the poor condemned for every flaw?

Of the people, by the people, for the people,
Liberty, equality and fraternity.
But as fear divides and rules,
Is this truly a democracy?

Thank you so much! It is the miserable reality.

Sannyasi Raja from Durgapur, West Bengal, India on November 04, 2020:

You have pointed out the basic problems we face everyday in a democratic country. It's harsh but it's true. Many social, political, economical reforms are required to change these conditions. But how they can be effectively implemented is quite a hurdle. But we must learn from our ignorance and mistakes to overcome our problems.
