II The Meaning Of Life II

All the flashing lights and the music surrounds me,

I feel like I am drowning in a dark, dark sea.

My thoughts have consumed the inside of my brain,

my eyes so blurry, it’s hard to see my aim.

I cannot seem to fill this empty void inside my heart.

This feeling that has made me alone and drift apart.

I try to imitate and copy everything I see on TV,

From the clothing and hairstyles,

But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder is this just me?

Everyone seems so happy,

But my smile only operates by a battery.

I can put on an act and pretend to be tough,

But I just know that it is not enough.

I want to feel complete

And not just a robot on repeat.

Following everyone just like a sheep,

Seems to be the only solution I have to this problem that doesn’t seep.

It's difficult to find your true self in this culture of technology. Keep trying.

Thank you for reading this poem. Remember that no matter what happens to you, you are cherished and you were created with something special that only you have the power to ignite and your gift needs to be shown to the world. Live up to your dreams.
