Dear M: A Vent Poem That's Been Long-Overdue

Author:

Emee.chan decided to vent in a letter and found it liberating.

Dear M.

Dear M,

I hope this letter finds you well.
And no, this is not something
I have planned.
It came to me out of nowhere.

It's been a long time coming,
The right words needed to be found.
But there is one thing I've been dying
To say to you.

You often made me punch my pillow,
Imagining it was your stupid face.
You made me irritated even
When you were not there.

You knew just how to get under my skin,
Knew which buttons to push repeatedly.
I must admit you were quite skilled,
Such a fine artist.

Now don't think I hold it against you,
I myself wasn't exactly the easiest
To get along with.
I'm sorry for the mistakes I've made,
For the wrong things I've said.

But now, as I write this poem,
I know exactly what I want,
No, what I NEED to express
In order to get it all off of my chest.

Dear M, please don't be mad,
This needs to be done
For the sake of my inner peace.
As I mentioned, it's been long-overdue.

Dear M, I've been itching
To say these lovely words to you,
All with a sweet smile on my face.
So without further ado...

Dear M, buzz off.

Sincerely (never) yours,

E.

I've been thinking long and hard about what to say...and I finally did it.

I've been thinking long and hard about what to say...and I finally did it.

Yeah, I even wished I had a punching bag at the time :D

It was just venting, but I guess your prompt gave me an idea of venting through a letter.

Emee

What a great way to get something off your chest.

Write a letter.

I'm can picture you punching that pillow with frustration.

Did you write this for the prompt?

Or just venting.
