Cultivate a Better-You: A Poem

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

They tell you to accept yourself as you are

but it's not about buying a used vehicle "as is"

and while we can't turn it into a new model of car

with new model of you your self-esteem will increase.

People even take a pride in their staying same

by often holding so high their messed up head

mostly stuck in their unrewarding, boring game

not thinking of becoming someone else instead.

But why settle for givens if we can change

so many have done it, I've been doing it too

though it's not common, maybe even strange

but you are never stuck with this version of you.

You can lose some weight, do some facial gym

use positive affirmations, and smile much more

you can give your knee-jerk reactions good trim

becoming a better personality than ever before.

And there is so much more that you can do

competing with yourself of your yesteryear

how the life may change, you have no clue

replacing a dull sameness with lot of cheer.
