Comprehending Time

Rushing through
And passing by,
Waiting for none
Unwilling to defy,
Seconds keep ticking
Minutes move on,
Hours keep dragging
With moments forgone!

Lost in thoughts
Chasing dreams,
The winning mark
Often far it seems.
Sacrificing the present
For what’s to come
To achieve triumph
We all succumb.

But is it worth
To let go of today
For what shall come
And is not certain?
What if all is lost in vain?
And what is left
Is a lost bargain?

Figuring out what to do
Has never been an easy task!
The options are what we weigh
And watch the consequences get unmasked.

It’s a visionary and dreamers’ take
Who do not wish their dreams to fall,
The juggle is a tricky one,
Since the winners shall have it all!
And the winner is what we wish to be
In hope to see our vision sublime,
And in that quest, we often fail
To comprehend our limited time.

Hey Brenda! Good to hear from you! You are absolutely right. It’s only that we don’t know how much time is granted for each of us. So whether we should focus and enjoy our present or focus to make a brighter future gets tricky. May we all be blessed with a happy prosperous, healthy and peaceful long life...

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 08, 2021:

We all wish for our dreams to come true.

Juggling them is another story.

We do our best..with high hopes in the time we have been granted.

Hey John! It’s so good to hear from you! Thank you, once again, for your inspiring words! Just read about your son’s wedding. There must be a lot of festivities coming up your way. Congratulations to the pair in advance and also to you. I have been entirely off social media for a while. In fact, today was just a break. I was finding all the buzz going on around a bit too overwhelming. Hopefully will be back soon to catch up on HubPages and all of you. Till then please do keep me in your blessings and prayers and stay blessed always!

Farah, good to see a new poem by you. You use the phrase “our vision sublime” well this poem is sublime. It is certainly a juggling act. We are told to plan for the future but it is always uncertain, so we need to also consider doing what we really want now while we know we have the chance. Time moves fast and we don’t get many opportunities. If we are lucky we make the right decisions.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Rebels. on September 07, 2021:

Nice poem, Farah. Time is precious and running too fast. Nice to see you back. I hope you are doing well.

Sending many Blessings to you and your loved ones!
