The coronavirus impact grows exponentially day by day. How we will prevail is a story being written by each and every one of us.

Comes One Very Infectious Disease (COVID)

Comes one very infectious disease

Name of ’19, year of ‘20

Arrives a gentle breeze

Swiftly turns to gale force wind

Brings a punch, one fast fist

Upper cut to the chin

Stagger, falter, damn near fall

Struggling, dizzied

Back up to the wall

Duck and think now

Swing and a miss

Duck and think now

We’ve got this…

Came one very infectious disease

Name of ’19, year of ‘20

It did not go with ease

Will one day be the truthful tale

We write now, each day now

Of how we did prevail

Hi Angel - chaos is a great descriptor for this. And madness and perhaps a few others. I was wondering to myself about this yesterday: what would 18 year old me think of these times? I was also thinking I am very glad my mom and dad are not here having to fret over whether they would catch this awful thing or not. Thanks for stopping by, Angel, and have a good weekend.

Thanks, Ann. Yes, optimism and mass participation in 'doing the right thing,' need to be the order(s) of the day. Hope you are well, and thanks for reading!

Great imagery. Optimistic, which is what we all need.

Aishatu - I have never seen the movie Splinter, though I did google this after your comment and watched a few scenes on YouTube with the monster in it. Ugh! Thanks for stopping by.

Mitara - thank you for reading my work. I hope to have more put together and published soon. Have a great weekend.

Jason - thanks to you, also. We are doing all we can to avoid coming into contact with this thing. Doozy that it is, we continue to hope others are taking it as seriously as we are. It's the only way to 'flatten the curve.'

Cool! Incidentally, that picture of the coronavirus reminded me of the monster in the 2008 movie, Splinter.

Hi Greg, your poem has very powerful words. I like the style that it is written in and the repetition in lines. Thank you for sharing.
