The American church is failing

It's no secret that the American church can be a difficult place to fit in. It can be snobby, rude, arrogant, and utterly dismissive of the needs and feelings of others. And things seem only to be getting worse in this regard. I have witnessed firsthand how cruel the church can be. I've felt their wrath and I can give a personal account of just how terrible a person's faith experience can become.

I have written a song that I believe expresses this sentiment properly. It is called, "Come to our church," and it speaks of my own experiences in the church world. No one may use or reprint this without permission. No one may claim any part of this poem as their own or use it without giving credit to the author.

Come to our church

Come to our church

We will show you how Jesus saves

So glad you're here today

We want you here every Sunday

We'll bring you in

You will be one of us

We will make much fuss over you

Please sign this statement of faith

Our teachings are great and you will not stray

We believe in you

Come as you are

Just don't be different

Don't dress too different

Don't come from somewhere different than us

We'll try to control you

Slowly grip harder cuz we wanna own you

And when tragedy strikes in your life

You'll be shocked by our shallow advice and tone

Chorus:

Now it's time to say goodbye

You won't even get the chance to tell your side of the story

You don't have a friend left now

We've turned them all against you and they've shut you out

End chorus

You asked to many questions

We had to say goodbye

You should have just accepted

What we replied

The Bible is there to shelter thee

To keep us from knowing reality

And most of what we teach is not even in there

We added our own rules

A sin here and sin there

We don't even read it

We know it only through our preacher

We'd treat the real Jesus

Like a useless foreign creature if we ever had the chance

Your friends here aren't your friends

They're just sheeple in this system

That's how those you've known for years

Could so easily black list-ya

We will never apologize

But we expect you to confess that you were wrong

Even though you've done nothing wrong

If you don't

We'll spread rumors

So you'll have to move along

Chorus:

Now it's time to say goodbye

You won't even get the chance to tell your side of the story

You don't have a friend left now

We've turned them all against you and they've shut you out

End chorus

you nailed it with this one. But you must understand there is no church system in this age , Jesus ended it at the cross because they had proved in Israel that it does not work, men are too evil when given power they abuse it. that is why being a disciple of Christ is an INDIVIDUAL calling to each person. Read here how He tells us to do it instead of listening to apostate clergy. false christians doing satans work

Matt 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Just insert the word YOU in the beginning of verse 19 and after each comma in the rest of the verse because that is what Jesus was saying.
