Many dream becoming a musical superstar, but few can do it

Our players had the goods; just needed an opportunity to succeed

A lucky break caused them to be launched into the stratosphere

Also, managed to divide them greater than ever before

Time to focus on what made them and broke them at the same time

Two strong and powerful forces that are eye catching alone

Burned twice as bright when they're within close proximity to each other

An attraction that only got stronger whenever they were closer together

Ambitious individuals who wanted to take over the world of music

To rule in a business where creativity and vice reigned supreme

Everything came easier when you were rich and famous

Also, came at a much higher price than when we were broke

He had a powerful stage presence and a guitar hero persona

Whenever he went into a stellar solo with his red Les Paul

Fans managed to perk up their ears and take notice

His unusually curly black hair shorn to the point of near crewcut

Easier to maintain when on tour with the band for months on end

Kept an air of intensity onstage as well as being a perfectionist in the studio

Stellar production skills and managed to be a taskmaster for the rest of the group

Unfortunately, the band's mistakes ended up falling at his doorstep more often

Than it should have intended to, since he was the de facto leader

With great power comes even greater responsibility when work trumps home life

With a singing partner that could match him pound for pound

Always able to cause a reaction and inspire greatest hits even if it's in anger

She was no slouch either in the musical department either

His feminine other half was skillful at creating an otherworldly vibe

Just from her mystical lyrics and flowy romantic type of dresses

Curly blond hair that grew past her waist with a lot of love and care

A modernized hippy that wanted to be just as powerful if not more so

Than her guitarist partner in musical mayhem and romance

Unfortunately, their professional intensity bled into their domestic life

Workplace differences hard to leave behind at the studio

When the instigator followed you home and paid rent as well

Hard to maintain a level of balance when two alpha personalities

Populated a once balanced relationship and love left the room

Resentments took over and betrayal became commonplace

Grew worse when the former love of your life wanted to go solo

You wanted to spread your wings as well, but didn't fare as well as she did

Passion that withered on the vine into complete and utter disgust

Ignited into discontent after a brief affair with another bandmare

Complicated matters even worse for a short time

Decades past and time seemed to heal most wounds

Turned out it wasn't the case and one of them was fired from the group

That made them all famous and wealthy beyond their wildest dreams

Uncertain if peace will be made; but it was fun while it lasted.

Success can bring out the best and worst in each other.

The price one pays to try to reach stardom.

Not always exactly the way one dreams.

      Good write.
