Cocaine, a song/poem about addiction (Lyrics)
This wicked stone's getting a grip on me,
It's all I think of, it's all I see,
I deprive myself for a couple of days,
Then revert back to my old ways.
This dangerous rock's got a hold on me,
I just can't stop, can't leave it be,
Even though it took the life of my friend,
Yet I don't want it all to end.
Getting so high just to come back down,
The negative effects showing all around,
The warnings, they keep showing to me,
I try so hard but just can't get free.
Addictions, afflictions, are throttling me,
So far as my distorted eyes can see,
Got to stop, need to slow right down,
And listen to the signs that are all around.
Need to get a grip before it's too late,
Can't leave these circumstances down to fate,
Need to stop always falling for the bait,
Then afterwards feeling so full of hate.
It kills me that it's killing me,
Been so blind that I just can't see,
This habit's been driving me around the bend,
Need to cut it out now before it all ends.
