Celebration Day
Happy Fourth Of July
To most people it means a federal holiday
A time for cookouts and barbeques
The site and sound of fireworks
Summer is finally here
Lots of swimming
As we know but we often forget
Independence Day
Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776
If you said any of the above
You were corect
I spend my time with family and friends
This year is suppose to be in the 90's
I often wonder where the days of the week have gone
Just think it has been 243 years since that amazing day
That is such a long time
I know some people participate in parades to show their appreciation
Maybe just because it is fun
I myself am guilty of forgetting the real meaning
It is sad because if I don't embrace the importance of this day
What will the next generation do?
History has never been my strong point
You see how fast if we lost our freedom
How quickly my attitude would change
To everyone out there in America
Happy 4th of July
Maybe you could take a moment of silence
For those who faught for the freedoms we all enjoy so much today
For other people in the rest of the world
May you also celebrate the importance of your own peoples special day
Above all stay safe and have fun

Gypsy Rose Lee We were off for the 4th and my wife and I went over to a friends house for a cookout. It was really fun swimming and eating off the grill. Then later that week we had a family party and celebrated all over again. We also heard a few fireworks going off. Not as much as in the past. Charlotte went running under the bed. Thank you for all your incredible comments. It is wonderful to be able to share.

John Hansen I hope your celebration was amazing? I think it is a good idea to have fun and enjoy life's beautiful aspects. Then even on the toughest days, we can remember the good and those thoughts can carry us through. Thank you so much. Have a great night.

John Hansen I love when people share their own customs and history. It is so much better than reading any history book. When I was younger history and math class would put me to sleep. As much as I tried to stay awake it wasn't happening. I figure the more I learn about other places it will push me to learn my own history. Thank you so much for reading and sharing. I think it is wonderful to listen to how people enjoy their day. Have a great afternoon.

Hope you're enjoying this Fourth of July weekend. It is funny here. Right now as I write there is not a sound outside but last night it sounded like a war going on The kitten's eyes got really wide ever time a really bit boom sounded. I know there will be more tonight but right now everyone is charging their batteries.

DreamOn, I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July. Our equivalent is Australia Day celebrated on 26th February. It celebrates the arrival of the First Fleet of British ships to Australia in 1788. I am currently visiting my son in Darwin, Northern Territory and on 1st July they celebrated Territory Day here with lots of partying and fireworks. Thanks for sharing.
