Captain Lakshmi Sehgal
Medini is a writer with a huge passion for poetry. She has been writing poems for more than 10 years, with many of them published.
There was once an exceptional woman,
a doctor, soldier and captain.
Dedicated to service of the poor,
She was the lionhearted saviour.
A doctor by profession,
resisting lifelong oppression,
She rose to great heights,
A fighter for women's rights.
Netaji's trusted pilot,
She refused to be silent.
A president nominee,
There's nothing not done by she.
Sent to Burma as a prisoner of war,
She is the forgotten warrior of yore.
So let us remember Lakshmi Sahgal,
The braveheart above all.

Not many know her, but she was a true hero. She was a lead pilot in Netaji's Azad Hind Fauj and was even nominated for Indian President, narrowly beaten by Dr. Abdul Kalam. She is a legendary feminist icon.

Sure! She deserves as much recognition as Bhagat Singh and the other revolutionaries :)
