Calypso Sigh
My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started sharing poetry articles back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.
Calypso Sigh
I.
Calypso sigh
all humble birds fly
their breasts were blue
as they cried "boo hoo"
then away they flew
yet they always came back to tree
they always came back
they always came back
yet they always came back to tree.
II.
Calypso jam
a little dance swam
over a syllabled tea
men took off their hat
as they stood and shot fat
realizing a Wallaby
this show will never come back for free
this show will never come back
this show will never come back
this show will never come back for free.
III.
Calypso tan
all the poor kids ran
none of them brought the proper fee
straight to other club
where they drank it all up
they will never come back and see
will never come back
will never come back
they will never come back to see.
IV.
Calypso drum
those crazy drummers begin to drum
the hipster, the queen, the bee to be
they will drum on the ground
and dance round and round
with a beat and a final bound
this sound will never come back
will never come back
will never come back
this sound will never come back to me.
