A Loving Offering to the Beauty of John Hansen's Work. A Free-style Sonnet

A Free-style Sonnet

Larva hatches from an egg, stuffs itself

With leaves of energy, until finally spinning

Into a silky cocoon, or shiny chrysalis.

Cute, magical strands of caterpillar silk, woven into

The intimacy of a precious pupa, hangs downwards from

A twig, nestling with nature; dancing with tomorrow’s vision.

Sweet magical gaze, your ultimate hue captivates me:

Wings, antennae, legs and eyes, all soaring as

A kite, metamorphosed into a butterfly of freedom,

Wings flapping into the winds of an indigo vastness.

Come! Sweet kaleidoscope of beauty! Amidst verdant green

And crimson robes, you pour nectar on daisy-like blooms,

Heralding the start of Spring. O Love! Endless are Thy mysteries!

Come! Pour into my soul Your golden Silence.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 7th March, 2020

The Light of the Soul

"Spinning, spinning with sweetness, my

Hearts golden wheel glows, like flowers,

Dancing in the beauty of spring. The sweet

Nectarine of the soul, not unlike that of butterflies,

Reminds me of grandeur, mystery and the sanctity of Love.

I pay homage, rise as a flame does, blending with synergy,

In a garden of Love-Delight." - Manatita. 7th March, 2020

Manatita, you and John are my two favorite poets on this site. It is admirable that you chose to pay homage to him. Your offering is most beautiful and John is most deserving.

    Thank You, Sha

I have written Hubs for John because I wanted to, but the last two were both inspired by me visiting his site or Hub. The Perched Bird came from a picture that inspired me from his Hub and somehow the butterfly poem he wrote, triggered another Hub. I get ideas from so many situations!

I rather like your take on it. How's America doing? I'll drop you a line about something else, then you can tell me. Peace.

Manatita, this is a very befitting tribute to John and his beautiful poetry. His words flow like silk and each creation springs forth with a message that makes us think or laugh and sometimes cry.

John truly is a butterfly in this world. He brings beauty and truth so effortlessly to a world that seems to have no rhyme or reason.

I’d like the thank everyone who has commented so kindly here in regard to myself and my poetry. That touches my heart to have so many caring friends here.

Sean, my brother, I wish you and your family a speedy recovery from the flu. Yes, the mortality rate from the flu is much higher old wide than the Coronavirus but once again the media are experts at spreading fear and panic, and common sense goes out the window. My prayers are with you.

"They play on the joy of the heart" I loved reading and feeling your poems like the sound of rushing waters in turquoise waters as your butterflies take flight.

Great poem and thank you for sharing it!

    Thank you, my Dear.

Maybe I'll craft one on a cake one day. Ha ha. Appreciate your sentiments for John. Have a lovely Mother's Day and an International Women's Day. No special time to praise in God's Creation. Your assiduousness is always noted. But like me, there's joy in it. You know the secret! Glory be!

I feel for you, my brother, Sean

You know I was worried about you. In January, a woman wished me a 'colourful' New Year! I had not heard that one before. Life is full of colour indeed!! Stay well! be safe! Reach out if you need help. Higher blessings.

    Devika, you are so sweet.

Kindness, is one of my best poems for you. Have you seen it? Higher thoughts.

    Ruby, my Friend,

I will ask for you as you have not asked as yet. What are 'they' doing to our beautiful world? Thank you so much!!

John Hansen deserves this poem you show the true being of a talented writer. I like butterflies and it suits John Hansen's part of life in writing his poetry from his porch.

manatita44 you never fail in showing the best that comes out of your style of writing and to the people you create an inspiration to in this community.

Oh, how I have missed you all here, my brother! Especially yours and John's divine poetry! You've created beauty again. I think that your Heart is a womb of butterflies and blossoms, just like John's. I am blessed to know you both. My love embraces you all the time!

    Grateful to read your gems!

PS: Two tough weeks with all the family down by the flu. I was the only one standing and serving my Sunny and the boys. And now my mother and my sister are also ill, and I have to stand for them. At the same time, I had and have my lessons, and some of them have left behind due to my lack of time and strength. So I have to put some extra hours now! The strange thing is that we have already 86 deaths because of the flu here in Greece, but the panic is only for the coronavirus!

Ah yes, the bright elusive butterfly of poetry. I think it's a good omen to see a butterfly. The Monarch butterfly is a treat to see. So big, an amazing presence. Just like John, the Porch poet. Nice one manatita.
