Honoring the Forgotten Soldiers

Written for the known and unknown soldiers of the past...

Revolutionary War & The War of 1812...Black Men were there...

Civil War & Spanish - American War...Black Men were there...

World War 1 & 2...Black Men were there too, and every war, since then...

So many wars have passed, are in the making, and Black soldiers are still not fully recognized for their contributions, sacrifices and willingness to fight for a country that sometimes openly and secretly treats them as 3/5 of man...

The history books are filled with missing stories, missing medals of the heroic and the fierceness of Black soldiers in every battlefield...

Whichever side the Black soldiers fought on they were fierce, courageous and relentless, even when freedom at home was denied to them...

Buffalo Soldiers, 9 & 10 Calvary, Fighting 54, and all the other Colored Units, made their presence felt in every battlefield...

Behing closed doors and far away from the battlefield they praised the tenacity, the abilities, to adapt to the harshest situations on any battlefield...

Still, deserving medals were kept from many Black Soldiers because of their color...

Deserving raises in rank, in pay and respect regularly were held back too...

These are words of recognition for the ones buried in unmark graves, in stack graves, in neglected burial places...

Your stories may never get told and there were many Devil's Punchbowl that have yet to be discovered...

My pen weeps and may your spirits find peace...

May your descendants find your stories and tell your stories...
