Birch Tree - A New Beginning

Nithya Venkat enjoys writing about nature and different aspects of life in the form of poetic verses.

Beautiful Birches

Beautiful Birches

The birch tree

draped in silver moonlight

bereft of leaves

stripped of life

snatched by winter's cold

standing naked

yet holding its own

a bold display of silver-white

glowing in the moonlight

the birch tree

waits for spring

to breathe life into its limbs

The birch tree

born again

with the soft touch of green

basking in the gentle sun

all the time dreaming

of midsummer

to burst forth into blooms

with the promise of young ones

growing with the spirit

of a birch tree

Nithya,

Wonderful job depicting this tree with your words.

I have often wondered what keeps it going after duch a brutal, cold winter.

I imagine this birch tree could tell us a few stories.

Have a great day

Vellur, I have never seen the birch tree. But the beauty and interest generated by the poem is awaresome. A person here lately commented that she's at home with the palm tree. So am I. In the tropics, winter as seen in European countries is rare. Many thanks.

Well expressed poem. It beautifully brings out the different stages of transformation, of the trees. The falling of leaves, and the coming of new leaves, a natural process, due to the change of seasons, is weaved well in your poem.

Excellent—Thank you for sharing.

A wonderful poem Nithya capturing the essence of the birch tree throughout the seasons. Beautiful photo.

Ann Carr from SW England on June 06, 2020:

I love the silver bark of birch trees and the leaves which have a silver underside. We had a silver birch in a previous garden; when there was a breeze it shimmered and rustled - so beautiful!

Lovely verse which captures it all, with the rebirth of all those qualities. Great poem, Nithya!
