Choose Happiness

At John’s request this poetry is titled “Bill’s Challenge” and I am attempting to make this a very good response as John requested. I don’t have the talent or experience that John has, but I have learned a lot from him and from Brenda.

I heard an Oscar Wilde quote the other day, and I thought about it. I don’t think we all live in the gutter, at least not all the time, but I do believe we can choose to look at the stars. We can choose to be miserable when things don’t go our way, but we can also choose to be optimistic. Bad times come and go. Choosing a glass half full mentality feels better, and it is a healthier choice.

Look At The Stars

Your quality of life is your choice

Some of us stop to look at stars

The beautiful wonder is all I see

Life choices are absolutely ours

Toxic people we try to avoid

Smiling children melt our heart

Choose your friends carefully

Wisdom we choose to impart

We can choose to be happy

The choices are always yours

Life has good and tough times

Happiness does not have scores

Stop to smell the gorgeous roses

Wander down a path in the woods

The glory of nature is healing

This can be easily understood

When in doubt try some prayer

Sing a song with a joyful heart

Look at the stars with wonder

After all it is a beautiful work of art

Determination may pay off each day

Sometimes tough choices we will do

We cannot always choose our future

We can always choose to not be blue

Kind and thoughtful words are the key

Keep your friends and lovers close

Relationships take some consideration

Give your love in a healthy dose

Sonnet

Choose God to live a peaceful happy life

Walk your path not listening to the rest

You do not have to live with horrid strife

Stay blessed
