GRIEF, THE PASSAGE OF TIME AND WORDS OF COMFORT

Grief is one of society’s most commonly misunderstood and profoundly difficult experiences that cannot be resolved by closure, if there’s even such a thing, but by a slow measure of acceptance that only the passage of time and words of comfort can provide.

THE LINE

Every minute someone leaves this world behind. We are all in the line; you or I could be next. We never know how many people or who is ahead of us. We cannot move to the back of the line. We cannot step out of the line. We cannot avoid the line.

So, while we wait in line - make moments count, make a difference, make the call, make the time, make your gifts known, make everyone feel like someone, make your voice heard, make the small things big, make someone smile, make the change, make up, make peace, make waves and make sure you have no regrets.

NOVA SCOTIA’S SENSELESS MASS SHOOTING

As a Canadian inspirational author whose mother was born in Dartmouth, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies by sharing the following parable with the people of Nova Scotia in light of the province's horrific and senseless mass shooting. I pray it can provide the victim’s families with a measure of solace, faith and hope in the difficult days that lay ahead.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There is a place the innocent know.
Where most of us will eventually go.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There are mothers, daughters, sisters,
fathers, brothers and sons.
All kinds of loved ones.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There are grandmothers, grandfathers, husbands and wives.
And many others who have touched our lives.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There will be aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews,
we would love to see. And friends we've not seen,
who cannot wait to hear how we've been.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There is also a country whose people mourn.
And wish a certain person had never been born,
because of the lives and hearts that were torn.

Beyond Nova Scotia
Nothing is the way it seems.
As you will begin to see in your dreams.
So, always remember wherever you roam.

Beyond Nova Scotia
There is a second home.

IT'S NOT GOODBYE, IT’S SEE YOU LATER

In this life we often leave or are left wishing we had five more minutes please take one of them to share this article in the hope that it not only comforts those grieving in Nova Scotia, but further inspires others to always try and say: "I’ll see you later, instead of goodbye!"
