Because I was different

its because we are differently able

its because we are differently able

It was getting louder

It was Christmas Eve

Everyone enjoying happily

I saw the smiles in the crowds

Fading out of my blurry eyes

I clapped my hands on my ears

Cutting out the loud noise

Running to find my own home

My own space to tuk myself in

To my own happy place

Away from the noise

Away from the people

A sign of relief

A shiver down my spine

I felt myself fade away

In my own happy place

Where I can be me

Where I am accepted for being who I am

I was different

I always will be ...

Hi Sammani, yes Christmas could certainly be a scary time of year for someone with autism. So many people around being loud and festive is probably quite scary. The poem expresses that well.
