Be That ‘One’—Poem

Chitrangada loves to express her moods and emotions, through her poems. Most of her poems are free style and spontaneous with Nature at core

‘One’ flower is enough to brighten your day

‘One’ flower is enough to brighten your day

The power of ‘One’

I am only one, But still I am one.

I cannot do everything, but I can do something, and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do, the something, I can do.

--Edward E Hale

Be That ‘One’—The Thought Behind the poem

In the journey of life, there must have been several occasions, when we were hesitant to do something, or take the lead, or take up some difficult path, for the fear of failure, or being unsuccessful.
We often do not have the will, or the confidence to go alone. There is a tendency to think, that what can I do alone, because I am only ‘One.’

But, the reality is otherwise, as I am trying to convey in the following poem.
You need only ‘One’ tree to start a forest.
Only ‘One’ smile can brighten your mood.

Only ‘One’ ray of hope, can raise the spirits.

When I wake up in the morning, I can see only ‘One’ Sun, giving me hope for a good day, and only ‘One’ Rose from my garden, to brighten my day, and the sweet sound of that ‘One’ little bird, to bring a smile on my face.

There is only ‘One’ Sun, to spread light to the entire World

There is only ‘One’ Sun, to spread light to the entire World

The Significance of ‘One’ — Poem

To begin a relationship,

You need 'One' Smile,

To end the darkness,

You need 'One' light,

To show that you care,

You need 'One' tender touch,

To uplift someone,

You need to give 'One' hand,

To make a difference,

You need just 'One' life,

To start a garden,

You need 'One' plant,

To start your journey,

You need to take that 'One' first step,

To bring change in your nation,

Your 'One' vote is crucial,

To spread light in the World,

You have only 'One' Sun,

To give cool nights,

You have only 'One' Moon,

To give shelter to all,

There is only 'One' Mother Earth.

There is only ‘One’ Moon to cool the nights

There is only ‘One’ Moon to cool the nights

‘One’ person can make a difference

Don't fall for the lie, that one person cannot make a difference. All powerful movements began, with the actions of individuals, striving for change. Your actions count. Be the change.

What a beautiful perception of the concept of being only "One"! Many of us often believe that my lonely action doesn't matter in this whole crowd. But, Chitra, you have brought out the greatness of one's single contribution that could make an entire difference to the whole universe.

I love your poem, “Be That ‘One.’ Yes, one can make a crucial difference in so many ways as you point out in your beautiful poem, Chitrangada. With what is going on in our world right now, we see that everyone’s actions make such a difference. When you see an animal or person whose in trouble, your help can save their lives and conversely to ignore can cause a tragedy. Appreciate you for sharing those words of wisdom, from Vedanta. This has added more value to my article/ poem.

I believe, that it’s important to raise your voice, against injustice and oppression, even if you are the only one to do so. There are so many inspirational pieces of writing, with reference to this.

‘Ekla chalo re——‘

‘Main akela hi chala tha- - - - aur karwan banta gaya.’

You, of course are a well read person, and must be aware of many more examples.

Many thanks for appreciating my photography.

Such a beautiful thought in the poem, Chitrangadaji !! Loved it. The photographs are lovely - as always.

It also brought to my mind the message of “Oneness” conveyed by Vedanta ....

If only those who impose ideologies and systems in the name of only one God of their own belief understand the ideal of oneness, there would be so much love, happiness and peace everywhere !!!

Liz Westwood from UK on August 18, 2021:

This well-crafted poem contains a powerful message.
