Babies in Historical Debt: A Satirical Poem

Val enjoys writing rhymed poetry with a valuable message in it.

Many a conqueror got undeserved immortality by being forever mentioned in historical grudges.

Many a conqueror got undeserved immortality by being forever mentioned in historical grudges.

People go forward in life. Bitterness, and grudges and resentments only poison it.

-- David Furnish

Let us blame young generations

for something their ancestors did

growing to become owing nations

to pay for great-grandfather's greed.

Let all German kids live in shame

for Holocaust and War keep paying

and those French babies just the same

be blamed for all that Napoleon's slaying.

See Italian toddlers with arrogant brains

owing big for every sin of the Roman Empire

Portuguese ones paying for shackles and chains

to make that unforgivable slavery debt be even higher.

Romanian kids must have Dracula's genes

Turkish boys being sons of Ottoman Empire

and every Scandinavian kid from baby to teen

reminding of a bloody story that Vikings inspire.

Who else should pay for all Attila's crimes

but each of those young Mongolian folks

Spanish kids guilty for Inquisition times

well, where is an end of similar jokes?

Is anyone to be spared from that unholy list

of European kindergarten guilty of a crime

with phantoms of history making us pissed

or should we leave grudges in those times.

Historical stigma on European folks

passed around by those insisting on hate

as if scapegoating babies in a paranoid hoax

not realizing all those blames are centuries too late.

People just can't stop playing a victim card

while history was brutal, nothing there to deny

but that historical neuroticism is falling kind of hard

on new generations not responsible for times passed by.
