Autumn Leaf

Maybe you’re the storm in my life
Name an island, you’ll sweep over me
The language you speak is straight in the doorway
A warning, like love trying to bend my tree

The ways of Cain, does God see it in me?
You don’t have to wonder about it this time
Don’t say it, I don’t know whose mess it is
If you want to fix something, pay me no mind

Build your mountain, I can’t break it down
I can only live it if you must act that way
I wonder if a switchback can make you laugh
So serious, loving you is a path for a lost stray

It’s what you don’t want to hear anymore
Resistance, what’s a heart to do behind a wall
A spring, cold clinging to the past left behind
I’d catch my autumn leaf, if only you would fall
