Appeal to Human Conscience: A Poem

Val is a life-long practically oriented student of effective emotional and attitudinal responses to the many challenges of life.

So many ways to say I love you

and even more to express our hate

or pretend to be somewhere above you

being lower than snake's belly or being great.

Why do we need these extremes

instead of insisting on love and care

why having nightmares not only dreams

and why dirty games instead of playing fair.

Everyone knows how to be nice and polite

perfectly capable of becoming a friend

smart enough to tell wrong from right

yet, as if it's so hard to understand.

Millennia passing one stranger than other

with lies and wars and hate in our heart

even with insults to earth our mother

vicious and crazy though so smart.

If we don't feel any respect for our own fate

why not care for babies inheriting this place

to remember us as teachers wise and great

not like someone who shamed human race.

Mejebi---Thank you for kind words of praise, I am glad you liked the poem. And yes, this world could use more loving harmony and mutual care.

Alan---Yes, my friend, mother nature is constantly giving us messages of her inexhaustible love, which we keep ignoring. If we could only allow our hearts to resonate with that beauty and treat each other as a part of it...

What an absolutely stunning photograph! I only hope that most people would strole gently there; stop to care and share; to stare at the leaves and shafts of light; amidst hopes and happiness; sacred trees, so bright.
