Aliens Destroyed My Pirate Ship

Poetry is turning out to be a very cathartic medium, I should do this more often.

We all own a pirate ship and set sail at some point in our lives, at least in fanciful moments of self-exploration, right?

We all own a pirate ship and set sail at some point in our lives, at least in fanciful moments of self-exploration, right?

There once was a day that I set sail,

Every lady ashore did wave and they wailed.

My pirate ship was the most beautiful in the bay,

But her likeness was destined never to stay.

No wave could stop my travel so eager,

Not even sea monsters I defeated so meager.

I could not see what awaited ahead,

For soon it would be that my ship is dead.

A large vessel cruised down from the sky,

I swear I saw it with my very own eye.

It floated around and filled me with fright,

Oh how this would be a terrible fight.

My cannons were loaded and so I took aim,

With intent to kill and not just to maim.

But when I loosed shots a bright light came right back,

My ship she was sinking now into the black.

No one believes the tale I let slip,

Of how aliens destroyed my pirate ship.

Probably because I was so very drunk,

And the aliens were just a friendly li'l skunk.
