African Dungeons

Through the eyes of a poet I will mentally take you back into a time period of unspeakable horror for people of African descendants…

Surrounded by coastal waters… The African dungeons were filled with corridors that led to Doorways of No Return, for those not strong enough to survive their capture…

If the walls and floors could speak, it would drive a chill throughout your body and you would begin to understand, why our children should be told these stories, even if they are too gory…

Huddled by the hundreds in thick chains that bound every part of their body, they were crunched and bunched like wild beast…

The chains bounded the wounded, the sick, the defiant, and the children into one link of around the clock agony…

Screams bouncing off the walls, dark sweltering heat, one cube window and the smell of death filled the air and made breathing almost impossible…

No place to sit, no place to urinate and other waste… No place to replace a dead link, a sick link…They all had to stay in this dreadful place, in anger and disbelief by men who treated them like beast…

The African dungeons, a place where the History Books have purposely omitted the atrocities that took place for over five hundred years…

Hidden history, sanctioned by those who prayed and tried to make God and accomplice of their alleged Natural Rights to Rule, while on Earth…

Lies were nurtured and given validity so that generations would remain perpetually protected from the Sins of the Father…

The African dungeons were erected to torture, break the will of a resilient and proud people…

It’s time for the lies to die because the African Roots did survive, the dungeons, the ships, and being branded and stranded in a foreign land…

Written in the future to honor the past and remind present generations…
