Poem: Afraid to Try

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

A while back in time

I decided my destiny

to be free and happy

all of my life.

I found out

life and time changes the scenery,

everything that seems to be

within time vanishes,

leaving me standing alone.

It is hard

to reach for desires

I would like to share,

for the fear I have buried deep inside

refuses to try,

since the outcome remains unclear.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on January 29, 2019:

Thank you John. I am glad you enjoyed my poem. This poem was written many years back...like 20 years ago.

I have always liked it and find it so true that life changes everyday. But we must keep moving forward and trusting it will work out for the best. I carry my faith with me daily.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 29, 2019:

Brenda, we never really know for sure how anything will turn out. We just have to be optimistic and have faith that it will turn out the way we hope. If we never try we will never know. Good poem.
