“Adapt": Per Brenda Arledge’s Prompt
I'm interested in social issues, relationships, problems of daily living, jobs, exercise, poems and fiction, plus safer living conditions.
Brenda Arledge's 52nd Prompt
Brenda Arledge has given us our 52nd word prompt, which is “adapt”. This completes a year of new prompts, and also Brenda’s review of the responses. I treasure Brenda’s friendship and all her hard work on our behalf. It has been a difficult year for Brenda, and yet she persists. Some people have had their work published thanks to Brenda’s encouragement.
I used to write poetry when I was young, but I had stopped. Brenda’s prompts have rekindled my interest in reading and writing poetry. I enjoy poetry very much, and I am thankful for these prompts.
Adapt
I was in love with a fine man
Then it ended as he was gone
Adapting was not easy now
I cried and cried all night long
I got a new job at the today
As an RN I wanted to work days
The time I chose was unavailable
I guess this job is one more phase
Life is not going the way i want
My car is now in the auto shop
Another expense I just don’t need
I thought I was the cream of the crop
When life throws you a curveball
You must adapt in order to succeed
We can’t always choose the outcome
Misery is an option you do not need
Throughout the years of our life
Changes occur countless times
We must learn to adapt to the change
We will forever make the long climb
Acrostic Poem
Adapting throughout your life
Daring to dream to succeed
Acting in solve any problem
Pushing through the tough times
To find happiness through change
