"The Albinos Voice"

I felt i had to stand against discrimination on people with albinism, after reading articles, about how these people are being misstreated.

albino

"THE ALBINO'S VOICE"

I now speak in the voice of my fellow albino brothers and sisters, they never chose to become albinos nor is it a crime. We should learn to love and appreciate each other , with all our differences , unity in diversity . I stand 100% against any form of discrimination, allow me to use this poem to change your thinking about these beautiful beings if you thought less of them. A defect in one of several genes that produces melanin causes albinism. Melanin is the pigment responsible for the color of the skin hair and eyes. Albinism is also associated with eye problems. People with albinism often have light colored skin and hair than the members of their ethnic group. Melanin help protect our skin from ultraviolet damage, so people with albinism are more sensitive to sun exposure . Albinism is a rare , non contagious genetically inherited condition it occurs world wide regardless of gender or ethnicity.

" THE ALBINO'S VOICE "

I get no respect, but pig treatment

Just because, of a lack of a skin pigment.

Is a book, only a book by its cover?.

knowledge lie in the books contents, not its cover.

What ever happened, to the spirit of humanity.

I guess it only reside, in the hearts of the minority.

Monsters and vampires, covered in human costumes.

Hunt, kill and sell my body parts and blood for fortunes.

Hear my cry ,owe children of the sky.

Here i ask myself , but never understanding why.

Life has served my kind , with such unfairness.

Were my kind is murdered, with such brutal murkiness.

We are all different , Africans , Asians and Latinos.

Now why are we so oppressed, as albinos.

We have a lot to learn , from the birds of the sky.

Never had i heard of eagles and owls , discriminate against flamingos.

Mr Hansen thank you , i am in SOUTH AFRICA discrimination against albinos does exist , in my country. I wish we could learn to eliminate such narrow thinking from our makeup .

Lorna Lamon on April 23, 2019:

This is a very thought provoking poem and thank you for drawing attention to discrimination against albinos and all races. Unfortunately ignorance does play its part in discrimination, however, with understanding comes tolerance.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on April 23, 2019:

I admire you for the reason you wrote this poem. I did not know there was discrimination against albinos, or more so have never come in contact with it. I am sure that it does exist in other countries though especially among dark-skinned races. Thank you for sharing your concerns and making others aware.
