Poem: A Piece of Me Is With You
I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.
Poem Summary
This is a poem I wrote after my Grandmother passed away in 2004. I will always carry her in my heart and I wish she was here. I still drive by her house hoping to see her sitting upon the front porch breathing in the essence of her flowers. I fear one day I might stop & simply stroll inside.
"Gone too Soon" by Simple Plan
Wish You Were Here
I fear one day
my car will park
and my feet will stroll inside,
believing you sitting in your favorite chair.
Even though, my broken heart understands
you are gone,
I find myself continuously driving
past your house.
As if, to catch a glimpse
of you relaxing on the front porch
breathing in the essence from your flowers.
My sad eyes keeping watch
is utterly foolish,
but a piece of me
is with you,
wishing you were here.

Beautiful, and heartbreaking. I can relate to the feeling of not wanting to let go. I look forward to reading more from you. Have a great day!
