A letter from Adam : addressed to EVE
Dear Mother of all Creation
Please forgive me for not protecting you,
Or teaching our sons to respect you ,
Please forgive me for blaming you : Genesis 3:12 (And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest me, she gave me of the tree and I did eat)
Forgive me for not manning up
And for betraying your trust
And looking upon you with lust
And not defendingi you
And for treating you like an object
And being objectionable
And not being objective
Or seeing things from your perspective
And always trying to picture you naked
Forgive me for not making eye contact
Forgive me for not listening
And for distancing
Please forgiveve me for not
Giving you the right to vote
Or for dashing your hopes
Please forgive me not acknowledging
Your part in the war
Forgive me for calling you who're
Please forgive me
For not standing up for you
Please forgive me not looking in your eyes
Or worrying about what's between YOUR thighs
Please forgive me for hurting you
Physically,sexually,
Emotionally too
Please forgive me when they
Took your jobs after that world war
I should have fought them
Like the white folks who fought for
Black folks freedom. during the
Civil War
Please forgive me for 'catcalling
And staring when other men do
I should. stare at them
and make them feel uncomfortable too
Please forgive me for letting our daughters in Africa
Suffer at the hands of evil nen
Please forgive me for letting women globally
Live like chattel
Please forgive me for holding you
when you were trying to be set free
Please forgive for being angry
When you weren't that into me
Please forgive me for allowing
A child to be censored for
Boys not not controllling themselves
Please forgive me for making you responsible
For.own actions
le
Please forgive me
For not giving you what all of us should have:
Freedom,
Of choice
And life
And work
Right wage
Same monies
Please forgive me EVE
for not teaching our sons how to act
For laughing at them
When I should have given them a slap
Please forgive for allowing our daughters
live in a world
where
They don't feel safe
Please allow me to Be a positive change
And let it start today

I'm not sure why I'm not getting notifications of your writings, but I'm not. Another HP glitch. Anyway, I have written often about abuse. I wish I knew how to eradicate it from our lives, but I don't. All we can do, as writers, is to raise awareness. Well done, you!

Far too many women don't get the recognition they deserve or their contributions appreciated but this poem of yours surely addresses this lack admirably. They brought us into the world and some of their daily sacrifices go unrecognized - the one's with a quiet and gentle Spirit are certainly worthy of respect. Thanks for the read M.T. Peace out.

This was so amazing that it brought tears to my eyes. Your poem was incredible and the additional information you provided capped it off perfectly. I also thought of Henrietta Lacks, one of the most important contributors to modern medicine -- although the circumstances of her contribution were absolutely horrendous.

It's very honourable of you to ask forgiveness, and taken the steps for positive change.
I thank you for highlighting how women were apart of invention and creation that not many know about.
The strength of a women is very similar to mother nature, their attempt to shield, calm all storm and goes far more beyond.
