Lost in the sinking spiral of sadness
I see myself engulfed in impenetrable darkness
O hear me, ominous lord of grit
Sink your teeth in my broken and feeble spirit.
Will they remember my days of dauntless valor?
How I valiantly fought against hideous and dreadful predators
My rusty armor in ruins, for blood it's thirsty
Oh what would I give for another taste of glory.
As the dawning of my decadence draws near
They grew up knowing peace, a world without fear
So what used to be distinct honor and reverence
Became disdain and tragic indifference.
This frail, old man, forgotten by society
Disheartened, as people have lost interest in his story.
They all have focused on being rich and lofty
So when the monsters returned, there's no one to defend the city.

Your vocabulary in this is very picturesque. I really like this poem.
