A Walk Through My Daily Routines
I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.
Doing the light
switch swing
with aggressive
sheet shove
I assemble
a reality check.
Parade of pets
to potty and food
two dogs two cats
one tan dog
one tan cat
one black dog
one black cat
all falling in line
behind my heels
before sunrise.
Fill sink with
hot water
soap for morning
dishes
make coffee
find a place
to open my eyes
drink in some worlds
pour out some
words.
Find my way
to my Lazyboy
my red notebook
drink coffee
think of a good line.
Walk to my sons room
gently but firmly
grip his shoulder
to begin a process
of waking him up.
Start to wake
up younger kids
day begins.
This is morning
every morning
routine.
Routine.
A shot
at simplicity
through
reaching
perfection
of a single
act
repeated
each day.

A daily routine looked at with love and tackled with devotion turns it into an enjoyable bunch of actions. I enjoy reading this poem.

Jaime, this poem is very nice, reminding me of an extended Haiku. It is one I will read often. So glad you wrote it - it seems to make mornings, even with glitches, more worthwhile.
