A Sweeter World

He’s closer than he seems
I want to feel like better times
With hope and sweeter dreams
Let me hug him like we used to
Let me take my time
It’s not so much to ask
It’s the last prayer drifting in my mind

How can I say what’s right
I’m afraid as I stand close to you Lord
I live in darkness and you are the light
Your power and mercy, reflect upon me now
I hear church bells chime
Reminding me of the past, when
I walked the sidewalks of another time

I’ve never felt so weak
Without a voice, only bitter acceptance
Can I be angry, can I weep
What do you expect of me now
Too many mountains to climb
The summit is always the sky
He is flying now, to a world sweeter than mine
