A Specific Moment in Time

Cheryl is a poet, freelance writer, author, and former newspaper columnist, with degrees in Psychology and Biblical Studies.

In the stillness of early morning

Just before the break of dawn

As twilight’s gleam is fading

I open my eyes and yawn

The crickets suddenly cease their song

Not a sound in the atmosphere

You have one leg draped over mine

You’re snuggling and holding me near

Suddenly the silence breaks

Crickets are chirping once more

I sigh as you release your sweet embrace,

Roll away and begin to snore

That's a lovely poem. I like the sound of crickets, I find them very relaxing.
