A River Runs Through My Heart

There Is A River In My Heart

There is a river in my heart, it overflows with goodly theme
Sometimes it cries from aching wood, that blocks the channel far down stream
Then I cry to the Father God and He takes away that meddlesome thing

I cast my cares at the wooden cross and in a twinkling, sunshine streams in.
The birds sing again and I walk with Him, down the stony road, down the mountain slopes
To the heart of my home.

To the folds and the flocks at the bottom of the valley,

Where the lilies grow.

We are encouraged not to strive for the things that will tarnish and rust, but let God give us eternal attributes, that have eternal value. The lily signifies a life of purity totally dependant on God, for our strength and well being.

Arum Lilies Thriving In The Field

O Arum Lily So Serene

O arum lily so serene
So beautifully clothed in emerald green
Bathed in dappled filtered light
Under the trees
Out of site.

There you are so prim and clean
Pure and beautiful
Like a queen
No one is clothed like you God says
You are more beautiful than a princess.

The Bible says not to toil or spin
For the Lord will clothe you
Yes, like a lily
From within.

Beautiful words.

So elegant and serene, just like the life God puts into our souls once we ask for help.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lorna. Yes lilies are so beautiful, in their simplicity. Their fragrance unmatched. Glad you enjoyed the poetry.

Such beautiful and inspirational poems Diana. The lily of the valley is my birth flower and one of my favourites. Lovely poetry.
