Short Poem: A Pool of Gold in the Sahara

A Pool of Gold in the Sahara

A pool of gold in the Sahara.

A collection of crocodile tears

that form an oasis, where the sole

predator has kept its ancient design

by nothing more than separation
from others. No competition,

but time and loneliness.

In the background,

the man worries

that his disguise is useless
against the silence

of the water’s mirror.

He fears the animals,
but never realizes

how much

the animals fear him.
