Old school poet. Loves rhymes. Loves Comics, Manga and Anime. Terrible at doodles. Fighting Depression, Dysthymia and Anxiety.

What else can you do

When the light is unsafe?

Where the hands that can reach,

Have their heads turned away?

A Plight Undead

She stood in the alley,
With a gun in her hand,
Blood seeped through the floor,
From the corpse of a man,

Hating the moment,
Despising the deed,
What choice did she have?
No one would heed.

For a second she wondered,
With trembling hands,
Was this the future,
Her ancestors had planned?

Why did they not,
Fight this back then?
The price of that silence,
Are now the lives of these men.

With blatant regard,
Like beasts they ran wild,
Abuse, tease, harass,
And worse actions compiled.

’Twas so escalated,
And no one was concerned,
So the only defence,
Was the loss of someone.

Was he not a brother?
A lover? A son?
Was he not a friend?
Somewhere to someone.

Why was he not,
taught to respect?
A mother? A sister?
Did no one correct?

How many fell prey,
To this now lifeless soul,
Did any survive?
Did any at all?

Once more she thought,
Of the people from then,
What kind of humans,
Would even let this begin?

Was this cruelty a norm?
Or a joke gone too far?
Because at neither end of this,
Is there any laughter.

Was this the right punishment?
It doesn’t matter anymore,
For It’s not just with her,
It’s happened before.

What else can you do,
When the light is unsafe?
Where the hands that can reach,
Have their heads turned away.

She blamed all the fathers,
And mothers before,
She blamed all the bothers,
And sisters also.

Had they done their parts,
And acted back then,
No one would need,
Such lethal defence.

Hating her act,
She turned to her pride,
“You may have just saved,
At least a few lives"

This is her world,
This is her today.
A gun, or a knife,
To travel home safe.

And not just with her,
But everyone else.
Their fate is our fault
Our silence, their hell.
