Wings of Freedom ~

Oh, how lovely must it be to divagate!
Into the unknown, with no apparent direction,
Wherever the roads lead, all our worries to mitigate,
No strings attached, no duties, no dejection!

Oh, how much would it mean to go on an adventure!
Set your sails ragged with life against the tide,
And no matter how dangerous might be the venture,
Keep your heart singing, blood dancing, eyes open wide.

Oh, to simply let go, how amazing would it feel!
Leave all the pain, and hurt, and anger behind,
Turn hatred found within our world into love: for real,
And forgiveness for everyone, dead or living, to find.

Oh, how nice would it feel to be free!
Allow each expectation and judgment to fade,
Perhaps only then all of us could simply just be,
Inimitable, unparalleled, the way we were made.

- A Poet in Attempt

~ About the Poem

Most of my poems revolve around the inner struggles: finding light in the darkness, fighting the good fight against our own minds, injustice in society, etc. These are topics close to my heart, for they are personal.

Today, maybe it's time for some brighter topics, and more positive content, at least for once. To let go, to forgive, to evolve beyond the bad, and be unapologetically ourselves while we strive to live our lives to the fullest... That has to be one of the hardest things to achieve, and at the same time, it's one of the most rewarding ones.

We all deserve the best. To be safe, loved, healthy, and free to be exactly who we are without shame or regrets. Because in the end, we all matter. Even when we can't see that. Or maybe, especially when we can't see it.

“In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.”

— Franklin D. Roosevelt
