A Perfectionist Monkey: A Fable in Rhymes

Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.

Perfectionist monkey comes to monkey shrink

"Please, tell me, oh, doctor, what should I do

something's wrong with how I feel and think

can you advise me or give me some clue?"

Good shrink -- wise as monkeys can be

gives his opinion to his messed up client:

"Do more monkeying around on your tree

quit imitating humans as some brainy giant."

"Man's mind is crammed, stuck at one place

so he cannot jump from a branch to another

unlike us happy monkeys leaping with grace

he always invents something new to bother".

"You've been looking at man as at some god

like wishing to possess his superior brain

but for a monkey this ambition is odd

it's just bound to drive you insane."

"Just be happy with your silly screeching

be who you are, merely a perfect monkey

and forget about all higher human teaching

you can't turn into man more than to a donkey."

Now, perfectionist monkey relieved and happy

made an acrobatic leap up the nearest tall tree

instantly forgetting emotions limiting and crappy

to continue his monkeying around cured and free.
