Shades of Colours

I am a kaleidoscope of colours, like sunset,

Woven from the very fabric of life’s challenges.

Green comes to me like a new dawn, carrying the

Lustre of moonlight, lifting me from the abysmal abyss,

Propelling me to the aspirations of bright tomorrows.

Red is the fragrant rose, a canopy of dynamic Light,

Healing the royal raven of a melanin skin, stolen from

The coasts of Africa, its alluring feminine curves defiled;

Its dignity torn by the scimitars concealed in human hearts.

Black is for the pure god-like stature, ornamented in diamonds

By Mother Gaya of Earth, and the Spirit of Nubian Emperors.

The ebony that became a shadow of its pristine purity,

Maimed, tortured and burdened by the internal shackles

Of sacrilege and the profanity of its Temple in distant lands.

Blue is for vastness, infinity. A master alchemist of negro spirituals

And other agonal freedom cries, sending out copious tears to the

Plenitude of the Unknown, shedding a thousand bows of scarlet,

To entreat Mercy … to shine the lantern of goodness in dark souls.

Indigo is woven in rainbows, to remind us that, like a flower garden,

We are all interconnected; to point to the quantity of needless blood

Spilt and to show that we are blended together like day and night,

Only for a coalition of Love, harmony and oneness.

Crimson is for the Phoenix, the song-bird in our souls, soaring to

The blazing cauldron of immortality; to re-discover its way HOME.

My Mind; my Shadow

You walk with me –a plethora of useless thoughts,

Weighing me down like an elephant. Burdened by

An avalanche of baseless fear, my heart bleeds with

The blood of anxiety, fueled by dread of mundane concerns.

Your persistence troubles me, as hope fades in a

Cloud of angry mobs, pillaging my already restless

Mind. Your sting of an invisible scorpion bites me;

You jump like a monkey with groundless doubts.

I seek the light and you follow, still wearing

Me down with the fog of darkness.

I am in the jaws of impending doom,

Concerned about the uncertainty of tomorrow.

I close my door, unable to scream out to the Universe,

While Hades smiles, beating Her evil drums of victory.

You have put into words what we often go through in our work of inner transformation as well as societal transformation. Life is indeed full of varied colours.

Yes Peggy. They are Interwoven, as indeed is Covid-19. Everything shapes life and the universal law of cause and effect; action and reaction is unendingly transformative. Much Love. - Manatita

You have portrayed the mistreatment of some people of color through the years and the anguish it brings, and yet, you also speak of love and peace. Those quotes are all ones to remember.
