A Pacifist Warrior

My tears are blind straits carving my face
Before they fall upon the laces of my shoes
I can almost hear saying as they land
Only God decides who will win or lose

Maybe they'll go to whatever forever means
A dark spot that once was an unmarked grave
Who remembers moments like these
Only those who lost their will to be brave

It's an ever long fight to be alive
The moment of courage may not be right
Is it better to be a hero in someone's memory
Or a pacifist no matter the reason for a fight?
What did Jesus say about peace anyway?

Did they lay flowers down in front of the tracks?
Shine the light on soldiers shooting back?
The man with a gun is not looking for a reason
His master told him and his aim is for all seasons

Why cry when in two days we will all forget?
Even if it happens to us we bury our grief
We can't live eating despair for breakfast
Our children smile because of our beliefs

It's an ever long fight to be alive
The moment of courage may not be right
Is it better to be a hero in someone's memory
Or a pacifist no matter the reason for a fight?
What did Jesus say about peace anyway?
