A New Tomorrow

Lorna is a published writer with a particular interest in narrative poetry, which she finds therapeutic.

a-new-tomorrow

Amidst the silent turmoil of yesterday

Where an endless storm chased chaos

We softly breathe within our solitude

As we acknowledge life’s fragility

Living for today

Yearning for that promise of tomorrow

Within the long shadows cast by night

Where voices of the past soothe our soul

As we write another chapter in our lives

Living for today

Hope becomes a beacon in the darkness

Its radiance dispels our doubts and fears

Embracing us with love’s soothing touch

Wrapping yesterday’s sorrow in compassion

Living for today

Held within the valleys of eternity

Protected by the joy of our existence

Where the sun regenerates our spirit

We rise as one to welcome the dawn

Of a new tomorrow

Prolly my favorite verse in this poem:

"Hope becomes a beacon in the darkness

Its radiance dispels our doubts and fears

Embracing us with love’s soothing touch

Wrapping yesterday’s sorrow in compassion

Living for today"

Hope is absolutely the force we all need to throw away our doubts and fears because of the past and live for today to be able to see what tomorrow might bring.

Your poem is really awesome. I wish I can also write inspirational poems like you do.

It is hard not to think of COVID19 when reading almost anything. The poem is beautiful. I love your last lines:

"Where the sun regenerates our spirit

We rise as one to welcome the dawn

Of a new tomorrow"

As the pandemic leaves us won't it be nce to welcome the dawn of a new tomorrow? You may have had totally different thoughts when you wrote this poem but for me I think of the new tommorow it is with freedom and no worries about being out with family or a group of friends, Thanks, Lorna.

Love your poem Lorna! It takes me on a nostalgic journey back into my joyful childhood and into my most treasured moments when all was well. This poem is not only very reflective but also hopeful as it promises a tomorrow like all of our most cherished days of yesterday but where we have gained insight as people, at last united, in creating a better world as we take much better care of our planet and finally we awaken to what our priorities should be. Hope is on the horizon so beautifully expressed in your amazing poem! Thanks for sharing your very profound thoughts and vision for the future.
