A Late Autumn's Walk

I love to walk in the Autumn time,

for is my favorite time of the year.

Evening strolls down golden lanes,

all are days that I do hold so dear.

The reds and yellows, all sprinkling,

such precious leaves we do behold.

Only in Autumn, you'll find this is so,

of nature's finest radiance to unfold.

The evening's breeze, the cooling air,

so gives meaning, is so pristine then.

As in the distance geese fly overhead,

on their yearly migration now to begin.

The swirling of the wind soon sets in,

as colorful cascading leaflets do twirl.

Grey squirrels now have gathered nuts,

while in their cozy beds each does curl.

The old lonesome dove does coo and call,

letting all know that Winter's coming so soon.

Bedtime is now near, as another day is done,

is a signaling of change by a crescent moon.

As that chilling in the air makes it well known,

I then pull my collar up so snug and just right.

A few more steps now have walked my share,

before darker shadows spread all in the night.

There's something so very special at this time,

and is so wonderful each and every new year.

We feel in our hearts such a goodness of souls,

shared by each one of us and without any fear.

Is the season, and ours to be greatly thankful,

for each one's life right here on this fine earth,

When we each one greets a warm morning sun,

every mother's child does share from their birth.
