A Hope and a Future

I have stumbled across a new passion: writing. It is proving to be insightful and rewarding.

The sun glimmers on the lake in the afternoon sunshine.

Sparkles dance like diamonds on the waters surface.

A birch tree gently flutters in the breeze as I see forever tranquility.

I lay back in the sun and relax next to the shade of the birch tree.

Where does the suspended animation my mind endeavors to experience linger?

I grow weary in the warmth of the sun as my energy leaves me.

I eventually succumb to a reduced state of consciousness.

There is the shuteye I seek!

But what is this despair I feel as I dream?

What levels of this dimension are true?

Why do I sense dull energy in this serene place?

An unwelcome perception of dread comes over me.

Then I remember a certain verse that comforts me.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord.

“They are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope

and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

I see the morning sun glimmer on the lake for the last time as we drive away.

No more dawn orange sunrises across the calm waters.

I’ve seen the beauty of God’s hand upon the land and the wet expanse.

I come away content to know that He still lives and watches over us.
