A Deserving Child

Every baby born deserves the best, from the very start,

So precious is this little one, innocent, each sweetheart.

All mothers do provide the warmth, the fathers a stability,

Both should work the live long day, a loving home to be.

Parents to teach their children, living by the Golden Rule,

Preparing each most special one, their first day at school.

The school teacher echoes that taught at home, the good,

As every babe receives the life, which each student should.

The true values held by this fine life, all do mean the most,

Is a heartfelt love displayed by each, Its meaning to boast.

Children to follow and is reflected, their behavior, the same,

No one wants to accept any wrong, all are equally to blame.

A proper upbringing, an education, well provided, is in store,

All vital skills from A to Z, basics in mathematics, much more.

How to read and spell, great stories ours to tell, a part to add,

Help make their time spent in school happy, best they've had.

Taught history of one's past, makes a difference, for later,

Better ways to live our lives helps all prepare one greater.

Arts and speech, music, writing for all, so much it to mean,

Every enjoyable moment spent in school, in memory keen.

Physical development, sports, are vital needs, have a place,

A place to study and for research, a fond novel, to embrace.

The library is a needed part of every child's own preparation,

Excluding the needs, so does destroy, the best of education.

Every child has their own special needs, ways of learning the best,

Just how they succeed, meet each need, is our duty, them to bless.

All's future does so depend on us, just how we prepare our charges,

The path we take, for heaven's sake, and this a better world, enlarges.

I wrote this for the kids that have been forgotten over the years and the neglect posed by legislatures all across the country. The first thing out of a candidate for office is about education. Then, it is totally overlooked from the moment they enter office. It is time we made our country truly great by making our education system much better. It is a shame that many countries around the world far exceed our own education system. Things have to change or we will be left behind.

A beautiful poem about children and their upbringing, with many valid points.

I'm going to be a grandmother for the sixth time next September so I'm continuing to take a part in all that, I hope! My grandchildren are a constant delight as are my own two girls.

Very apt sentiments, whonu. Children deserve the best upbringing and education we can give them because the future will be in their hands. good job.
